Being away from family is one of the hardest parts of living abroad. As an expat, I often feel torn between chasing my dreams and worrying about my parents back home.
Are they really happy? Are they healthy and active? And how can I encourage them to stay that way without being overbearing?
One of my biggest challenges has been finding ways to keep my parents motivated and engaged in their daily lives. I want them to stay active, to move, to feel that spark of accomplishment, but I also know that simple encouragement doesn't always stick.
That's why I created Sparks.
A Simple Way to Turn Care Into Motivation
Sparks is an app designed for people like me. Expats who want to inspire their parents (or anyone they love) to live more actively, in a way that feels natural and fun.
Instead of simply sending words of encouragement, I can send them a gift, a walking challenge with a small reward that turns activity into excitement.
How It Works (And Why It's So Simple)
- Buying a gift. I purchase a Sparks gift from the website. Each gift is a walking challenge with a set duration (1 day, 1 week, or 1 month) and a financial reward (for example $1, $7, $15, or $30). The challenge also has different levels (Beginner, Pro, Veteran) based on difficulty.
- Sending the gift. After buying a gift, I get a unique link that I can share with my parents. They tap the link, install the app, accept the gift, and start walking.
- Walking and earning. Once the challenge starts, they walk daily to earn the reward. If they complete the challenge, they receive the full amount as a direct reward.
- Unused funds return to the buyer. If the recipient doesn't use the gift or doesn't reach the maximum reward, the remaining balance returns to the buyer's account. The buyer can withdraw it or use it for the next purchase.
Sparks transforms encouragement into action. It turns care into a shared experience, a way to connect across distance through movement and motivation.
The reward isn't the goal; it's just a little spark that keeps the journey exciting. The real prize is better health, daily consistency, and knowing someone out there cares.
The entire Sparks system is sustained by a small withdrawal fee, similar to other money transfer platforms. Users can minimize fees by making fewer, larger withdrawals instead of frequent small ones.
If you're an expat struggling with the same feelings of responsibility, Sparks might be the solution you've been looking for.
This is just the beginning of the journey. Let's bring health and wealth together at getsparks.app.
